예전에 제가 Long White Cross라는 곡으로 소개해드린적이 있는
뉴질랜드 출신 밴드 The Pluto,
명왕성의 새로운 곡이 나왔다네요.
그렇지만 작년에 나왔지만 아무도 모르게 나온 덕에
대체 앨범을 낼 생각은 있었냐 라는 분위기죠(...)
뭐, 세곡이 새로 유투브 등지등을 통해 알려졌습니다.
당시에도 밀던 후속곡 Dance Stamina하고,
Baby Cruel의 두곡은
Long White Cross가 수록된 Pipeline Under the Ocean앨범에 같이 있었습니다.
...그런데요
분위기를 너무 바꾼 거 같군요(...)
Long White Cross는 히트 싱글로 자리잡은 테마가
몽환적인 어쿠스틱 얼터너티브의 느낌이었는데(뭔가 설명 힘듬)
다른 두곡은 얼터너티브 락에서 뭔가 느낌이 다르군요...
모르겠습니다.
이 곡들이 음악적으로 어떤가는 모르겠는데요
전 적어도 예전의 그들을 알린 Long White Cross가 가장 좋았다는 느낌이군요.
그렇게 나머지 곡들이 별로 호응이 없다가
다시 원래의 느낌으로 조금 선회한듯한 French Grave가 가장 나아보이는 건 저뿐인가요.
뭐, 하지만
차트는 거짓말을 안합니다.
Long White Cross이후에 그들은 자국 뉴질랜드에서조차 순위권에 못들었으니까요.
세 곡을 차례로 들어보시죠.
첫곡은 Dance Stamina.
다음 두번째는 Baby Cruel.
마지막으로 가장 최근에 낸 French Grave입니다.
이번에 올린 팝송은 뉴질랜드 밴드입니다.
The D4이후에 괜찮은 뉴질랜드 밴드네요
역시 크리켓 2007에 OST로 쓰인 곡입니다.
남들이 뭐라해도 Plague 계열(음악적용어 아니라 그냥 제가 막 지어낸겁니다만)
팝 음악이죠.
신디음악도 아니고 브리스톨 팝도 아닌거 같기도 하지만
그냥 락 음악도 아니죠.
로큰롤 이라고 부르기도 민망하지만 애시드 팝하고 제일 가까워보이는 데요;;
어쨋거나 흡수력이 정말 센 가수들입니다.
물론 한국엔 정발되지 않았습니다만
기대해볼만한 가수죠.
